Culture Minister Awarded Annual Italian Art Prize

TEHRAN, June 30 (Mehr News Agency) -- The Rome Fine Arts Academy awarded its 2003 `Tullio Fazi' annual prize to the minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Ahmad Masjed Jamei .

The Dean of the Art Academy in Rome Giorgio Cina, addressing the award-granting ceremony in the city of Assisi in northern Italy, said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has put in a lot of effort in preserving and promoting its national art and culture in recent years.

The prize will be delivered to Iran's embassy in Rome.

In the session, attended by the renowned cultural and political figures from Italy and other nations, Iran's Ambassador to Rome, Bahram Qassemi, was awarded with the honorary professorship degree of Rome Academy of Art for taking special measures in broadening mutual cultural and artistic ties between Rome and Tehran.

`Tullio Fazi' prize is  awarded annually by the Rome Art Academy to countries that take major steps toward expansion and protection of their national art and culture.
